How will the exchange / Politics of the social life of Rome? Who were the members First Triumvirate formed at 60 a. C.? Why does Caesar, the die is cast? What "reform" emperor divided the empire into two parts to make it easier to govern? Not all must be answered, but any help is appreciated.
Question 1: Trade is vital to ancient Rome. The Empire The cost of a colossal sum of money to run and trade has almost the money. The population of the city of Rome was a million and a huge population needs all things brought by trade. The Roman Empire was crossed by trade routes. There were sea routes covering the Mediterranean and the Black Sea and land routes with many roads built by the Romans. Trade and movement of the entire Roman army the two main reasons for building roads. The most important port Ostia was as if the most important port of Rome itself. Ostia is located at the mouth of the Tiber River, just 15 miles from Rome. Many ships have traveled between Ostia and the largest city of Carthage in North Africa, a journey which took three to five days. The ships also arrived from Spain and France in Ostia. All property could be quickly transferred to Rome itself and they were taken by barge to the city on the Tiber after slaves had transferred funds to send barges. Ironically, Ostia was to play an important role in the fall of Rome when Alaric the Goth Ostia in 409 captured in the knowledge that deprive Rome needed food. The Romans did what they could make the maritime safety – lighthouses were built along the shelters and docks. The Roman army did he could do but the hackers of the Mediterranean. The Romans have been trading as easy as possible. There was a single currency and was there not to complicate customs fees. Trade was also encouraged by many years of peace within the Empire. Trade is vital to the success of the Empire. When the Empire collapsed, the trade through land that had formerly constituted the Roman Empire, was also collapsed. The Mediterranean Sea has become a dangerous place to shop because there had no power to control the activities of pirates that lurk in the north to the channel. What was gained from where? The Romans imported a variety of materials: beef, corn, glass, iron, leather, lead, marble, olive oil, perfume, purple, silk, silver, spices, wood, tin and wine. The main trading partners are Spain, France, Middle East and North Africa. Britain exported wool products of lead and tin. In exchange, imported wines Rome, olive oil, ceramics, and papyrus. British merchants Romans down to ensure security within the Empire. When this system collapsed and Europe seems to have been invaded by barbarians, no one can guarantee that their products pass through retailers. Moreover, without the power of Rome, who would be willing to buy what is produced in Britain and elsewhere in Europe? the slave trade of ancient Rome. The slaves have always been used in Rome, but it was a sharp increase in their number from the second century BC. Slaves could obtain as prisoners of war, or foreign trade Roman territory. Parents also have the right to sell their children into slavery to pay debts. Homebred slaves finally outnumber those who had been free before and were enslaved. Therefore, the slaves became costly and inefficient for the use of unskilled labor, and finally replaced by free labor in mines and other industries. In fact, slaves were employed in almost all forms of skilled and unskilled work, and realize the "overwhelming" amount of work in mining, manufacturing and work private. The state also owned slaves, in order to maintain public works like roads and aqueducts, but was limited by the practice of subcontracting public enterprises. The agricultural workforce is much more complex, with farms worked entirely by slaves as well as those belonging farmers or rent to tenants. A large number of slaves, however, worked as doctors, architects, and teachers, to amass great fortunes. Slaves became free men (Liberati) if granted emancipation by their owners or if they can raise enough money to buy their own freedom. release formal also granted Roman citizenship and was held before a magistrate. Customers have been released legally binding because the services for a client, and released automatically become customers. Goodfellas is not eligible for the position, but their children – as citizens – have been. The act more informal manumission gave no slaves citizenship and property returned to its former owner after death. Manumission was relatively common, work was carried out effectively for freedom. Most slave revolts occurred during the Republic, and three large, especially towards the end: two in Sicily (135-132 BC) and Spartacus (73-71). During the Imperial era slaves were apparently not carried out acts of violence against the owners or rebellion. For all the glory and grandeur of ancient Rome the Roman economy never became something terribly complicated compared to modern economies. Ancient Rome was an agrarian society and economy Slavery whose main concern was to feed the large number of citizens and legionaries who populated the Mediterranean region. Agriculture and commerce dominated fortunes Roman economic, complemented only small units of large-scale industrial production of staple crops in Italy Roman peasants have been various grains, olives and grapes. Olive oil and wine, the food directly out were some of the most important in the ancient civilized world dominated exports from Italy. Romans used a limited 2-speed rotation of crops, but agricultural production has been largely low production and the need for a large number of slaves to operate at any volume. Farmers can provide surplus crops to the government instead of tax money. This system allows both Republican and Imperial leaders to gain popularity with the masses by distributing free seeds and also help feed the legions without direct monetary cost. Unfortunately, it also left farmers with little incentive to increase productivity or output, since translated more culture plus taxes (and the distribution of free grain). The citizens have become dependent on these distributed grain and the large volume of trade that followed. The need to ensure grain giving the provinces has been an important factor, many leading to the expansion and conquest of the Roman state. Among these achievements were the provinces of Egypt, Sicily and Tunisia in North Africa. These areas were a vital importance in the processing and shipment of grain to Rome. Of grain is shipped directly to Ostia, the port official in Rome, and the penalties for disturbing the most direct route includes deportation or execution. Once delivered to Ostia, the grain was weighed, quality control, and then sent by barge from the Tiber in Rome, where he would be repackaged for distribution throughout the empire. While the production and transport food sector dominated trading, there was also an extensive exchange of other goods from all over Europe, Asia and Africa. The prosperity of the empire and many of its citizens has generated a need for luxury imports and exotic. Silks from China and the Far East, cotton and spices of India, ivory and African wildlife, large amounts of metals extracted from Spain and Britain, fossilized gems Germany yellow and slaves of all persons found that all roads indeed "lead to Rome." Important industry and manufacturing has been relatively mild to agriculture. The growth and influence of the Empire can not be underestimated, however. The largest industry in ancient Rome was mining, which provided stones for the construction of large projects and metals for tools and weapons that conquered the Western world. Greece and northern Italy where the marble ancient buildings and modern impression as. Large quantities of gold and silver were mined in Spain to mint coins and jewels to create, while mining Gran Britain produces iron, lead and tin arms. Cities and towns throughout the empire established manufacturing plants to small-scale ceramic was handmade glassware, weapons, tools, jewelry and textiles. Extensive trade routes were established on land and at sea Roman roads are a legacy of Roman rule and many are still in use today. If a provision of an extensive network of roads has been transporting goods, the most important objective was the rapid mobilizing legions. Following the marching soldiers, a large number of goods transported along these roads. Freight transport by road was slow and costly, however, which is loaded on wagons and coaches were pulled by oxen logging. large deliveries, slow were vulnerable to attacks and bad weather horse loading faster set were used, but could provide more light load. The caravans of camels or donkeys laden suitcases and baskets carried articles Some calls were made by slaves, who provided cheap labor. The overland trade is profitable if the goods have been short distances or if the object was loaded small, expensive luxury. Most high-volume, bulky goods such as food, precious metals, stones and construction materials were shipped by water. Many roads provides a cheap and easy access to all parts of the Mediterranean. The consolidation of the Roman army of Augusto virtually eliminated the threat piracy, but the weather, inaccurate maps and navigational equipment poor could wreak havoc on a convoy. However, despite the dangers, there is no better form of transport of goods by ship. Romans thrived off of its imports, and importers are among the richest citizens of the Empire. The exchange of goods for the system barter of goods was alive and well in the ancient world, but the Romans also used one of the monetary systems of the world's most developed. Pieces of brass, bronze, copper, silver and gold in the imperial system is minted and distributed according to strict standards for weight, size, value and composition of the metal. Popularity and the value of Roman coins became so great that it could not be found as far east as India. Roman coins have been very detailed and high craft, and have often been used as tools for the emperors to move new and different forms of propaganda for the people and the world. In fact, numismatics (the study of ancient coins), is a of the largest sources of historical facts, events and conditions with regard to the Roman Question 2 Caesar and Crassus in debt policy, but also made efforts to Pompey, who was unsuccessfully fighting the Senate for ratification cons of its colonies in the east and farmland for his veterans. Pompey and Crassus had been at odds, since they were consuls together in 70 a. C., Caesar knew that if you join one, you lose the support of others, then attempted to reconcile. Among the three, who had enough money and political influence to control public affairs. This informal alliance, known as the First Triumvirate (rule three men), was consolidated by the marriage of Pompey to Caesar's daughter Julia. Question 3 Caesar said: "The die is cast" crossing the Rubicon. That's what Julius Caesar said, crossing the river Rubicon to invade Italy in 49 BC "Death" is a road game, and "conversion" means released. The term means "The decision was irrevocable." (The Latin words "Jacta alea est", are given in Suetonius, Divus Julius, XXXII. Alea * denotes the dice game, instead of physical die: the dice game is in your rose. Plutarch wrote two accounts in Greek of Caesar crossing the Rubicon. On both occasions, it gives the words as Anerriphtho: Kubose = "What is dying to vote." In one of the accounts (Life of Pompey), says that Caesar actually uttered Greek word, in another (César life), suggests that the words were already a proverb before Caesar uttered them. Question 4 In the mid-third century barbarian invasions Northern Empire fell. The emperor Diocletian divided the empire into two halves, the eastern capital at Constantinople. The Eastern Empire flourished while the West has collapsed. Rome was sacked by Alaric in 410 AD.
